The Passport is Your Best Travel Companion

We believe that a little preparation goes a long way in ensuring better journeys. One key element that often gets overlooked, especially when traveling domestically, is the passport. While it may seem unnecessary when staying stateside, the passport opens doors and prevents obstacles in various ways—making it our favorite travel essential.

Starting in May 2025, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will require all air travelers to present a REAL ID-compliant form of identification at airport security checkpoints. You don’t have to worry about that with your passport, though. The passport is considered the highest fidelity form of identification and automatically meets all REAL ID standards.

Stay Informed

While passports are our go-to form of identification, it’s important to keep an eye on those expiration dates. Adult passports are valid for ten years, while passports for minors are valid for five. Many countries also require that your passport be valid for at least six months after your planned departure. By checking that your passport has plenty of time before renewal, you’ll avoid unnecessary stress and travel disruptions.

Travel Flexibility

Your passport is also great for any unexpected travel changes, from spontaneous international trips to proving citizenship. CLEAR Plus allows you to verify your identity using your face, fingerprints, or eyes—and having reliable and widely accepted documentation ensures you’re ready and confident for anything your travels may bring.

Having your passport on hand sets the scene for smoother and stress-free journeys, from start to finish. No matter your adventure, you can’t go wrong with your passport as your trusted travel companion.
