There’s a new way for Veterans and their families to sign in to VA.gov: CLEAR. Earlier today, we announced that CLEAR is now an option for Veterans to use on VA.gov for fast, simple, and secure access to their benefits. Veterans will be able to use CLEAR online or in person at select VA locations.
Last week, we hosted a group of Veterans at our New York Headquarters to preview the technology and give us feedback so that we can deliver the best possible experience. While it began as an opportunity to gather information and learn more about how we can best support our Veterans, it quickly turned into something even more impactful: a candid conversation about transitioning to life after service, how integral the VA is to real-world challenges and the power of feeling cared for.
The Veterans we spoke with across the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines all expressed similar feelings during our time together: adjusting to life after service is hard enough as it is, and accessing the benefits they’ve earned shouldn’t be. For Veterans and their families alike, returning from the military requires mental, emotional, and physical adjustments. Navigating a sign-in process shouldn’t add to that burden.
As we took these Veterans and their loved ones through CLEAR's new VA.gov sign-in option, we heard what stood out to them most: how simple and secure the experience felt. After years of navigating complex processes and resetting forgotten passwords, they appreciated an easier way to access the benefits they and their families had earned.
The sign-in experience with CLEAR is very easy to use. I had assumed there would be more steps or paperwork needed, so I was very impressed with how quick and easy it was. Often when signing in to systems, you have to keep track of different usernames and passwords. What I love about CLEAR is that all goes away. It's a much more seamless process.

For our team at CLEAR, hearing this feedback firsthand reinforced the purpose behind this work: making it easier for Veterans and their families to access the benefits they’ve earned, with one less hurdle along the way.
Throughout our time together, this group of Veterans expressed appreciation for the VA embracing new technologies and working with companies like CLEAR to make accessing their benefits easier.
I see the VA investing in this new technology with CLEAR, and that it's only going to bring these benefits to Veterans and their families faster and easier. ... It's comforting to know the same technology and company I trust from travel is available for Veterans accessing VA benefits.

Several family members also shared that seeing a familiar, trusted brand like CLEAR gave them greater confidence in trying a new way to sign in.
We’re proud to support the Department of Veterans Affairs in making access simpler and more secure, and we’re committed to serving Veterans and their families for years to come.
We are dedicated to continuing our work with Veterans to ensure the best possible sign-in option for them and their families—constantly refining the experience based on their needs.
Signing in to VA.gov with CLEAR is fast and secure—and at no cost to Veterans. After a quick, one-time setup that takes less than 2 minutes, Veterans can access their benefits with a simple selfie.
Veterans can get started with CLEAR online or in person. We know not every Veteran wants to navigate a new experience on their own, which is why CLEAR is bringing in-person support directly to six participating VA medical centers, offering Veterans the option to get help from a CLEAR Ambassador in a familiar place.
Whether they choose to get started online or in person, CLEAR is a free, optional way to sign in to VA.gov.
As our day with Veterans and their families came to an end, their experiences brought home why this work matters. For those who have served our country, accessing the benefits they’ve earned should be straightforward. We’re grateful to play a small part in making that easier and will continue working with the VA and Veterans to listen, learn, and improve the experience.
