  • Smartphone that can receive text messages

If you prefer in-person support, don’t have access to a smartphone, or experience connectivity challenges, you can create your account with help from a CLEAR team member at a participating VA medical center.

In-person CLEAR enrollment is available at six participating VA medical centers:

How do I get started with CLEAR at my VA medical center?

You can get started with CLEAR in person at a participating VA medical center. Look for the CLEAR Pod in the lobby, where a team member can help you complete enrollment.

Why can't I use my military ID to enroll in CLEAR to sign in to VA.gov?

Military IDs are subject to specific federal protections that limit how they can be used outside authorized government purposes. These restrictions prevent us from accepting military IDs for enrollment.

VA.gov uses CLEAR to help verify your identity to create or sign in to your account. CLEAR+ is our paid Membership that unlocks access to dedicated CLEAR+ Lanes at airport security.
